Ben asked:

Is a electric guitar able to play without a cord and amp and all that other stuff? I may be planning on getting one. I am wondering if I will be able to carry it around with me outside, and play it every where I go, without a amp and all.

Hi, Ben! Yes, you will be able to hear the guitar, but probably not well enough to amaze your growing audience or jam with another player! Nothing wrong with being able to practice chords and finger exercises without any amplification, but why not consider a headphone amplifier? Check out the Vox amPlug ( ), the C Tech Pocket Rockit ( ), and the Waves iGTR Modeling ( ) for some examples. Best regards, Dana Dana

The answer is no, I don’t know why anyone would say otherwise. You’ll hear something but the notes will be too faint for anyone to call it “music.” And good luck hammering or pulling off. Get an amp my friend. Bud

You certainly can play it unplugged! Many famous players play unplugged for most of their /practice/ time. The important thing is that it will not be very loud at all; you’ll be able to hear it well enough to practice in a quite place, but thats about it. You should try going to a guitar store and playing an electric unplugged, just to get an idea of how loud it will be.

If you want to be loud enough that people can hear it without standing right next to you, and still want to carry it around, I would recommend getting an acoustic.

    Good luck! Kyle M
