Which electric guitar is good to start off with?

I’ve been guitar for about 1 and a half year(s). So basically i’ve been acoustic this whole time. I want to start playing an electric soon. The thing is I don’t know which electric guitar brand I should buy.

Anyone know a good one? Something between $100 - $300, if possible?
Btw I play rock, alternative, and pop as well.
My current acoustic is and Epiphone DR-100.

You can get a decent electric new for 150-170 $ to start out with.Honestly if your speaking of sound qaulity your amp,and pedal, will make the larger differance.I spent $ 400 on a Shecter, and I still play my $ 170 Jackson more than I play that.Go spend $ 150 upgrade later after you gotten used to it.Upgrade your amp,and distortion pedal before you upgrade your guitar. ~Volcom~
Fender makes a line of cheaper guitars called “Fender Squire” I would recommend those. They are impressive for the price. Have fun! jonb
There’s no such thing as a one-size-fits-all guitar, so the best thing you could do is go to a guitar store and test drive a bunch of brands. Each brand tends to have its own feel, so chances are one will just feel more comfortable and natural in your hands than others.
I’m a huge fan of Ibanez guitars, which are built like rocks, sound amazing and are often nicer than guitars costing twice as much. They’ve also got really thin necks and low action, which makes them incredibly comfortable to play. The Squeir by Fender guitars are also very user-friendly and well-made. I normally recommend that people avoid Epiphone guitars because the necks are so chunky (which can make them challenging to play), but since you’ve been playing acoustic, you’re already accustomed to chunky necks. So it’s worth trying some Epiphones, as well.
Here are some links to guitars in your price range worth considering. All of them are fantastic guitars, but which guitar is ideal for you depends a lot on the style of music you play. Ibanez has lots of guitars, for example, that are made specifically for metal and hard rock players. The Squier Stratocasters and Telecasters are classic guitars used by lots of blues-based rock, pop and country artists. And Epiphones tend to have a lot of crunch to their sound, which makes them great for rock.
The most important thing is to choose a guitar that feels really comfortable and natural in your hands. Trust your instincts, since they’ll serve you better than anyone else’s opinion. Most guitarists are somewhat brand loyal, but that’s only because they’ve found the guitars that work best for them. Ultimately, the way you feel about your guitar is more important than anyone else’s opinion or the name on the headstock. Good luck! baxterville
It all kind of depends on what style of music you play…. and I would save up around $300 to $500, because you’ll need an amp and cable to go with it. You can find strat packs or an Ibanez starter pack for that amount of money. Adam D
