What’s a really good website that can help me teach myself guitar?

Ellie asked:

I’d like to know the basics, really. How to play chords, good techniques, etc.
Preferably somewhere free, and somewhere that I don’t have to buy a book or anything.
I can hardly play guitar at all, but have an electro-acoustic and amp.
However, I CAN play the piano so can read music!
Really want to know how the notes relate to the strings on the guitar so I can understand it better and be able to compare it with piano.
Thanks very much!

    Youtube.com

Its good because its a video so you can actually see what strings and chrords to hold down.

    Just type in Guitar Lessons.

go to the lesson section of ultimate-guitar.com. It has columns and lessons all about guitar theory and general music theory, also, ultimate-guitar is the best place get tabs of your favourite songs.

You should check this site out…a ton of lessons, and to be honest, although there are many good teachers on YouTube, you can never be sure what you’re getting is accurate.

After all, anyone can throw a video up on YouTube.

Guitar Player magazine has been around for decades, and they have all kinds of lessons…acoustic, electric, and ranging from beginner to intermediate to advanced.

From a guitarist of over 40 years.

Best of luck and keep practicing till those fingers bleed! LOL
