I have a 6-stringed Mark II acoustic guitar, and I was wondering what type of strings would be best for my guitar. Thanks!

  1. Rhubarb says:

D’ Addario bronze phosphate if it’s acoustic, silver wound if electric. The smaller size strings are easier to play but don’t sound rich and full. Rhubarb

    hi,

hard to tell with out looking at it. many times if you change strings you may need a truss rod adjustment or nut replacement (especially is you go from a small guage such as a 9 or 10, to a larger guage 12 or 13 or vice versa)

what is best to do is replace the strings with what is already on the guitar. the problem is, is that you probably don’t know what strings came on it. most the time 10s are pretty standard for acoustics. if you bought the guitar new, you can go to the manufacturers web site and view the specs of your specific model and it will tell you.

many times people want their guitar to play easier so they want to switch to a lighter guage string (9 or 10). this is fine but if you change them it might effect the action and need a truss rod adjustment. This is best done by a pro (usually for less than $20). I have been playing guitars for nearly 25 years and I still don’t like to mess woth truss rods etc.

    Hope it helps….keep jammin
