What type of Fender Guitar is the best for a Beginner?
DrunkJayzFan asked:
I wanna get an electric guitar and start learning. I had my eyes on a Les Paul Special II, but im also considering Fender especially cuz i like grunge, alt metal. I want a guitar that makes those kinds of sick sounds maybe some nu metal too. My budget is between 200 - 300; and can go a teeny bit higher. What do you recommend?

For that price you gonna have a hard time buying a fender. Even used they are more expensive.
Try a squire strat.
also made by fender but lower quality.
Get a USA model. Mexican Strats suck. Believe me.
Probably a Squier Stratocaster, they’re perfect for a beginner.
for your budget, you can’t buy an american one, so i’d recommend you just settle for either a mexican make one, or a squire. they aren’t the best, but they’re good for a beginner, you know, to practice and to see if you like playing the guitar before you spend too much money on one. the most common fender guitars are stratacasters
With that budget you definitely cannot afford a real Fender, especially since they just raised their prices about an average of $200 on all their guitars and amps. But a Mexican or a Squire should suit you just fine. In fact they sell beginner packs that come with the guitar, amp, bag, picks, strings, all that for around two/three hundred dollars. Those certainly get the job done.
If you want to spend a wee bit more, Laguna makes a great high quality starter pack that comes with a great Line 6 Spider III amp, effects and all, for around $350, give or take a little more.
The Epiphone Les Paul Special II isn’t bad, either. Those are solid guitars, and sound great for the price.
In the end it all depends on personal brand preference and how they feel for you. :]
I’d suggest a guitar that isn’t too cheap, but isn’t a ridiculously expensive one that you might not even use anymore if you decide to stop playing (Which I hope you don’t :). Keep practicing and with motivation you will get better!).
I would suggest a Fender Standard Stratocaster (Made in Mexico). They cost $500 at Guitar Center but I was able to buy one on eBay for only $320 WITH A hard case that’s worth about $100 extra. So you can definitely find one for probably around 250-300…350 tops.
I hope you find a great guitar for you and keep on rockin’!
You see what i did was i got a Peavey starter pack, the problem with that is after i got better i wanted to get a real guitar so i got an ESP (LTD) for $200 which is real cheap because the peavey pack was $250 and the ESP is way better than the peavey, so i would skip getting a starter pack and go straight to getting the good stuff that way you don’t waste your money getting a starter pack first. And i’m sure you can find a good used amp for less than $100 so it would be about $300 for a good set-up or $250 for a beginner set-up that you’ll end up hating in 3 months.
I don’t think that you’ll be able to buy a Fender with 200-300$. You should start using a Squire, which are way cheaper than a Fender. Squire’s are really good, you can even play Pantera songs on the Hello Kitty Squire…
You won’t be disappointed with a Squire, trust me on this one.
You can get sick sounds with a Les Paul too though..
Definitely a Squier Telecaster. Much cheaper than an actual Tele and perfect for a grungey sound. Still a good guitar though.
