1st off it needs to feel good in your hand. If you can grip your hand around the neck comfortably, if its balanced alright meaning it can’t be neck heavy or it will be a struggle keeping it up right.

That’s really it. If your guitar comes in a box and you can’t test it out just walk away. Your better off going to a pawn shop, because than at least you know that it will be good in a year or two.

Strings are really important when it comes to acoustic guitars. Red Brand is the best, but they can be hard to find.

If you have a pretty good sized budget I have to recommend “Ovation” they are by far the best Acoustics around. They play like a electric guitar but sound like a really beautiful classical guitar. Electric guitars are much easier to play NOT because they notes and chords are any different but because Electrics are more stiff and balanced plus they strings tend to rest closer to the fret board than on Acoustics. Also Acoustics tend to be bulky and can be tiring on a persons arm having to reach around the body. Nonpartisan
