for a reasonable price, i’d say you try fender squier, or epiphone les paul, it all depends on what type of music you really love playing, blues = fender, rock/metal = ibanez or jackson, alternative = i’d go for PRS,
I like Ibanez guitars. They have really fast necks and you can get a brand new one for around 500 bucks. I had an artcore semi hollow for years with the Bigsby tremolo on it and I loved it. The downside was I had to play about 6 of them before I found one that didn’t have problems and even then I had to get it set up because they did a terrible job at the factory.
I am a huge fan of Epiphone guitars. They’re cheap, they sound damned good and they can take a lot of abuse.
Fernandez makes a really great sounding guitar too but they are a bit on the pricey side. I would rather Frankenstein a cheap guitar and get my own sound than pay big money for a gutiar. It’s a personal choice and it’s more rewarding for me.
My favorite guitar in the world is my Oscar Schmidt OE40 by Washburn. They have been discontinued for years but brand new they only cost around 600 or 700 bucks. My friends tracked one down for me and gave it to me for my 29th birthday. It was cheap, it plays blues, rockabilly and balls to the wall punk rock better than anything I have ever heard. I’d put it up against a 6120 Gretsch any day of the week. It’s been dropped, puked on, had beer spilled on it, been bled on and seen it’s fair share of different amplifiers and sounds as good today as the day I got it. It’s never been polished or cleaned up, it’s got a liberal coating of stickers on the back of it and it’s my best friend.
That’s what truly makes a good guitar. Something that feels and sounds good to you. To hell with what anyone else thinks…go to a music store and play them all, find one that you just love and sounds good with your playing style. There is no right or wrong.
fender. but they are a little expensive, try looking at a store like guitar center
