What is the best beginner acoustic guitar?
JoanneMz asked:
I’m going to be taking guitar lessons pretty soon and I need an acoustic guitar, but I would like to buy one that is going to last me a while and isn’t going to empty out my savings account. I heard that the Epiphone DR-100 is a pretty good 1st guitar (and it’s withing my budget), is there any truth to that?

Well, it’ll play, but it certainly won’t be anything spectacular. I strongly recommend you up the ante a bit, and shoot for something closer to $200-300. It will be well worth it in the long run. Sal Chaech
If that is all your budget can stand it will be fine. No matter what you get now, you will want something better down the road. I do agree that you will get much more bang for your buck if you can spend a bit more and get a real solid top guitar. The Yamaha FG730S is a good choice. If that doesn’t work into your budget, no big deal. Get the Epi now and move to a Taylor, Martin, etc. down the road. The main thing is just sticking with it no matter what you’re playing. ddrum
