youtube has a HUGE amount of tutorials for songs, tabs, chords, etc. try a good ole’ fashioned google search too.

That’s because there is not yet any website that can look at your hands and correct the little errors in wrist and finger position that beginners always make.
If you don’t get those little errors corrected at first, they become bad habits. At first you won’t have any problems, because you’re still playing at a relatively simple level–but when you want to get to the more advanced stuff, those little bad habits can run you into a wall, and then you have to go back and re-learn–which is MUCH harder.
Worse yet, sometimes those bad habits lead to repetitive motion injuries. I’ve known lots of self-taught guitarists who wound up getting wrist surgery–might have been avoided if they’d had someone pestering them about apoyando technique when they started out.
So do yourself a favor; go find a teacher. Best way to get inexpensive lessons is to ask at a music department of a nearby college; if you can connect with an advanced guitar major, you’ll get all the right techniques at a lower price. A dozen or so lessons will set your fundamentals, and then you can self-educate if you don’t mind it taking longer. You can check out any websites, also look at your library for books or videos; at some point you’ll consider subscribing to Guitar Player magazine. If you don’t like a source, ignore it; if it’s too hard, remember it for later when you catch up with it.
Oh–one more tip. Beginners learn faster if they practice several times a day for short spells each time, and slowly lengthen the practices to build up to practicing an hour or more. When I learn a new instrument (I’ve played over 100), I put it somewhere where I’ll pass by often, and every time I pass it I pick it up and try to play it for a couple of minutes. It not only gets faster progress, but it builds stamina in the right way–less risk of tendinitis or bleeding or blisters or so forth.

The website that I used to start off with is guitar.about.com. It has like ten lessons made especially for beginners, and it teaches you basic chords, scales songs, techniques such as sliding, bending, hammer-ons and pull-offs, and it also gives you practice schedules. You can also sign up to be sent them to your email one lesson per week automatically. This is a really good website to help you get started, and it is worth at least a look, as it also teaches you songs to play each lesson, such as About A Girl by Nirvana, and Take It Easy by The Eagles. However, I do agree with the answer two above me, so it is best to get some kind of tutoring, even if it’s just off a mate to help you with your skills.
None site will teach you how to play it, u will need to find a bunch of sites to learn it. Its best to start of easy and picking single notes, to play intros of smoke on the water and stuff like that. So first learn to read tabs , then play some stuff until your fingers get used to it and then learn chords , strumming patterns, and then you cloud play 80% of songs you know, trust me im a beginner myself.So use youtube.com for tutorials also expertvillage.com is great to so try that one out.
you need to learn how to read chords, tabs, and you learn any song you want! also, the have lessons on here , reveiws, and a bunch of other guitar stuff!!

That is what started me, and now I’m in a band that plays out a few times a month. I did take lessons, only to better understand some fundamentals of music theory.
Just choose from the left side for lessons (basics and beginner’s course). There are video lessons in them as well, and once you are ready, you can move on to the more advanced lessons, which also have videos.
