What is a good intermediate guitar to get?

This may be a little expensive for your price range, but I bought a Schecter c-1 Classic for my second guitar. It cost me $400 (used) at Music-Go-Round. I love it and can play lots of genres on it. Never had any problems. (btw the Epiphone SGs are great, however my friend had a problem with the headstock falling off, which is a major issue in my opinion) Mike
