What is a good electric guitar for drop c with heavy tone?
RS asked:
I play metal like as i lay dying, system of a down, and others in drop c tuning. My guitar that i got 4 years ago is one of those $100.00 starter guitars. it sounds terrible, and i need a new guitar with really great tone and not too expensive (up to $700.00). Also, if anyone can recommend good strings for drop c tuning that would be awesome. Thanks!

There are a very large portion of brands that are supposed to specialize in metal. B.C. Rich, Ibanez, Shecter (think I spelled that wrong), ESP, so on. Everyone is just going to tell you there own favorite brand, which for me is ESP/LTD.
String brand is also completely preference. I can’t even recommend a gauge of string because it depends on how thick and tight, or light and loose you want them. Dalton
Don’t get anything with a trem system, avoid thin necks (like SG’s) and don’t put anything thinner than 10’s on or it’ll be a floppy mess. I personally like anything by LTD, Schecter and if you can find it try a Maverick - excellent quality and great tones. There’s a few Ibanez models worth checking out just make sure you follow those rules and it’ll sound beefy

BC Rich, Jackson, Ibanez, Esp, Schecter, guerrila though not for the pricerange ur talking about. tbh the biggest thing for a heavy sounding guitar are the pick-ups. If you arent a fan of these guitars u can easily get a gibson or an epiphone and get emg’s (pick-ups) put it and they will sound fuckin geavy. you can even get a metal telecastor (the jim root model) it comes with emg’s and is really dirty sounding (heavy). so to be honest ur not limited to what people generally call metal guitars. the difference between what people normally consider metal guitars is for the most part the shape. they are called high performance guitars (they arent actually better, just different). they tend to have much thinner necks and sometimes unstandard body shapes. The most important thing really is to try and find a mahogony body with a good pick-up (emg, seymour duncam, there are a couple others) Walk With Me in Hell
