What guitar to buy for a guitar class at school?

I need to buy a guitar for a guitar class at school. Is there any good brands or they depend on their cost? I am looking to spend around $200 to $300. Where should I look for one? Or how can I find some stores near me? Yellow pages?

if your a beginner… just buy a cheep beginner brand for about 99 bucks, first act, bc rich, squier (fender), and epiphone (gibson) have some decent ones..
and if you ever decide its not ur thing.. you can sell it.. without knowing you bought a somewhat expensive guitar and never learned to play it.. and of coarse if you get better and decide to get a better guitar then you can sell ur old one..

Go to a music store, preferably one where lessons are given, and tell them you want a student guitar. The “action” (ease of pressing the strings down) is more important than the sound, at this point.

How about a used one from a pawn shop? That’ll save you a lot of money. Steve
