B from Illinois asked:

This will be my 3rd guitar 2nd electric. I’m a intermediate guitar player who is interested in playing alternative rock and classic rock. If i get either one of the sg’s I’m going to be saving up and buying the Angus Young Silver Humbuckers so let me know which is better suited for me.

I can’t say you will go wrong with either SG. Have you considered other brands like Fender or PRS? The “new” Fender Custom Shop, Relic Series, etc. look and sound amazing.

Call my boss Teddy at 312.455.1970 - I actually think he has a used SG in the store (I may be wrong - I saw something in Candy Apple in passing but it may have been a vintage strat.) I think they have a flying V up for auction as well.

Anyway - best of luck in your search. I saw your post and wanted to help if possible, and since you live in IL you can always pop in to see the store and meet with Teddy.

    1. Do not get the schecter, personally they are classless guitars made of poor quality woods and poor quality craftsmanship.

    2. Get a Gibson… Gibsons rock, sound great, made well, look cool and have the name to boot.

    3. As far as if you should get a special or a classic edition… that is personal preference, I think it is pretty much a cosmetic difference, but the sound and playability should be similar.

    hope this helps! Eric S

you should get the sg. shecters are more for heavy stuff. sg’s are good for the classic like angus sound big dawg
