FENDER squire, eletric guitar. probably sold in a 200 dollar set with amp and eveything,
last for about 3 years, just keep it clean and it could last longer.. Rudy

I play both acoustic and electric. Learn Acoustic first, the bigger neck and strength required in your fingers will make the transition to electric easier later. Buy a middle of the road guitar from a good music shop who can set up the action for you, or get it on the net and then get it set up, find a shop who is happy to do this for you first. I would think something like the Epiphone humming bird. Have the strings lowered to make it easier to play and also reduce the gauge of the strings by one, this will make it much easier to play. The only other thing you need apart from the guitar is a tuner, a capo, picks and maybe a case. As for is it cheaper well it depends on what you buy. Both electric and acoustic guitars range from very cheap to very expensive. But you do get what you pay for. Acoustic is probably cheaper for most people. Martin S

Accoustic is cheaper but if you want to learn electric get an electric. Price matters but you want to get a guitar you can stand the sight of, preferably like looking at. Guitars you like looking at are more tempting to play. Getting a perfect guitar is not essential while you are learning because when I first started I knew that if I held the most expensive guitar in the world it wouldn’t make my playing any better. People who are skilled enough can make average to cheap guitars SING. Keep that in mind. Chocola

You can’t beat the value on this one. It plays very well for a beginner guitar. I taught a class full of 6th graders and used many of these. Once you know you want to stick with guitar, then upgrade:

    yamaha pacifica 112v
    Squier strat
    Epiphone Les Paul
If you want to spend a little more Ibanez RG are pretty decent all up in flames

i’d go for a starter pack from ANY brand. they come with an amp and a guitar usually, all the stuff that you need to start with.

i would definately NOT be worrying about quality for your first guitar, ive been playing for a while now and its not till later on that you need to be thinking about your tone quality and what not. you will just need something that you can learn on, and the price range for an electric beginner is around $200.

hope ive helped, good luck with learning! :) Matthew
