It depends on what type of guitar you want to play. My prefered brand is Fender Stratocaster. Kimberly
Acoustic or electric?
For beginners’ acoustics I like Yamaha (especially the FS-720S) and Takamine. Lester G

They’re are some very awsome Takamine acoustic guitars for around 300$ and they really sound amazing. It’s a good choice to start playing because you don’t need to buy a better one when you get to play better! math182
There are three important factors to consider when buyin a guitar for a beginner. #1 - The action , this describes the ease or difficulty experienced while pressing your fingers down on the strings to sound notes and chords effectively and is directly related to the distance between the strings and the fretboard. The greater this distance is , the more difficult it will be to apply enough pressure with your fingers to sound notes properly. It is possible to find a beautifuly sounding guitar that is to hard for an expert to play do to poor action , let alone a beginer , and is a common reason why many beginers fail or just give up. If the action is too low some notes will buzz or not sound at all , try to find a happy medium. #2 - The tone , or overall sound of the guitar. Try different makes and models for the type of sound the beginner will prefer , do they want a bright crisp sound with more treble , or a fat rich sound with more bass ? #3 - Price , most manufacturers of guitars make a high end and low end guitar , and quality can vary a great deal. A higher price doesn’t always mean a better instrument. It’s wise to get a fairly inexpensive guitar at first and then upgrade to a better one later on in case the beginner loses interest. Companys such as Fender , Gibson , Guild and Ovation have solid reputations for making quality instruments. It’s like buying a car , try several guitars before making a purchase and if you know someone who already plays guitar bring them along , thier advice will come in handy. jeffadams100
