I’m really getting into playing the acoustic guitar. Should i get lighter or heavier strings for my guitar. I really like playing classical music and fingerstyle guitar. which gauge would be better for that type of music????

  1. Hawk M says:

Do you have a steel string, or nylon string

with nylon the heavier strings are called “high tension”

with nylon and steel strings, a heavier gauge with have a bigger sound
the lighter gauges are easier to bend, but don’t sound quite as fat, and will wear out quicker
you can compromise, with custom gauges, that have a light top medium bottom Hawk M

I play electric guitars, so don’t no much about acoustic one.
If you are in Brisbane try Arties Music Max the guys there are good. MayMay
