What brand guitar has California stamped on the top where the brand should be?
Kogami asked:
I have a guitar that on the top where usually fender is stamped it says California. It looks exactly like a Fender strat. I would like to know what brand it is and if it is any good. Also how good are they?

The brand is California. This kind of guitar is called a Strat copy. It’s probably not a very good-sounding or high-quality guitar, but it’s probably good for practicing and it’s likely pretty durable. bronxynightfish
Maybe its a special edition of something. Then again, the stratocaster shape is one of the most used in guitarlore, if thats a word. Many other brands use the shape Sir Edgar
It’s just a copy. It’s hard to say if it’s good or not. You can always swap out the pickups and electronics for nicer quality and that will make it sound better. You can also find a used Fender neck sometimes, and bolt that in, and you’ll have a pretty nice guitar that way. Adam D
Fender made a California series Strat in the late 90’s, but I think it said Fender California on the headstock. Could be what you have. PA
