What are some guitar chord patterns that sound good together?

I just wrote a song about a break up (The guy ends up being a jerk so the girl is leaving him). Any patterns for guitar that give that kind of sound? Thnx!

G, then put your pointer and middle down a string (I forget the chord name), D, Then open, fret 2, fret 2, open, fret 3, fret 3 (I think it was e minor or something, not sure). I would play down down up up down for strumming. I would do each chord one time with that pattern, maybe two times on D. CrappySleeper

Goodness me, some people’s answers are very technical without actually answering the question.
Most memorable songs, whether a haunting melody or a fast, bouncy melody generally use simple chord combinations. I have no idea what your skill level is, so to keep it basic, good combinations are:
Em, Am, G, C, D and not necessarily in that order. If you start at G, then a progression to Em, C and then D before going back to G. There are plenty of variations though and it depends on how good you are.
Progressions based on G are quite nice. Take the normal G chord and move the top 2 fingers down one string each and move the bottom finger up one string. Then keep the bottom finger on the 5th string and move thr top 2 fingers down again so they are holding down the 3rd and 4th strings and then play around with those chords a little, along with Em, Am and D
Take care and look forward
