don’t bother buying an expensive one. Go to Musiciansfriend.com and buy a 100 dollar special. You may really not like playing guitar, as it hurts like an MF when you’re starting. (your fingertips will sting for a long time, and will most likely bleed).
I suggest starters go for a nylon-string guitar or an electric, as the strings are more pliable than a steel-string acoustic. For the outlay of a decent acoustic, you can get a cheap electric with an amp.
