Enki asked:

Hey guys, I’m really into the Death and Black metal genre, and I’m really looking forward to playing it in the future. So my question is, what should I practice doing on my electric guitar? should I practice doing the A E G D and F chords or is that not gonna help me play my genre? please help.
Thanks in advance :) I forgot to add, should I learn power chords instead of normal chords?

You have to practice everything. You don’t become good at guitar by focusing on 1 genre or a few chords. Adam D

    I agree with Adam.
Learn it all. Today you’ll want to play Death Metal, tomorrow you might go jazz. Who knows. My musical tastes have matured over time as have my techniques. I play way more than what I started out wanting to do. Chewe

Of course you want to learn it all eventually, but you have to start somewhere. I’m not into the kind of music you are but I’m guessing it may not use basic open chords as much as power chords. Maybe learn the power chords first as they will be less frustrating and will allow you to play some songs you’re into. Then start working on your open chords and bar chords. ddrum
