How long does it take to play an acoustic guitar?
BLASIAN. asked:
I’m planning on to get a acoustic guitar soon. I just want to know how long does it take to learn. Also, what items should I get with the guitar. My friend and I want to play together and sing, so we can put them on youtube and stuff.

chords and tab are really easy, yu just got to practise strumming and plucking the strings.then learn the chords. if u want to learn classical/read music well it can take a while but you could do it within a couple of months ffra
it can take any time. you 1st have to learn the basic chords. A,E,G,D . then once u have those down you will start to learn my advance chords, (BAR CHORDS) then you will need to learn all the scales. Major, minor, pentatonic, blues, etc. you can learn chords everywhere or if you want to learn a song. then look up tabs. brandonnyjets
First, change how you think about learning a instrument. You will never of learned everything or be perfect at guitar. I know people who have been play for 15 years or more and still learn new stuff all the time.
I would say a year to 2 years is a good amount to get the basic down, like chords, strumming, scales, chord construction, basic theory etc
With the guitar, try and get a free case if you can. Will be really useful if you need to take it anywhere. A tuner is a must, picks, straps, strap locks, capo if you want. A stand is a good idea, as it will let you see the guitar and you are more likely to pick it up and play.
The main thing is to just enjoy it, if you don’t enjoy playing your never going to get anywhere! Shadow
If all you want to do is play a few easy songs on YouTube, realistically all you need to do is learn a few basic chords. Depending on how advanced you want to go you can basically learn 2 chord shapes and play almost any song you like. Learn the major barre chord inversion and then to make it minor you lift up your middle finger, easy! You now know A through to G# Major and Minor chords.
To learn these 1st basic chords will not take you long at all. Could be done in a week easily if you practice. Guitar is an easy instrument to learn, hard to master. LeftyFretz
Depending on how fast of a learner you are. Maybe 1-3 months, depending on what you are going to be playing exactly, but you have to do it all with patients. Fezzz
Well, depending on how good of a learner you are and how much you practice everyday you should be able to learn enough basic chords to play most any song in 2 or 3 months, if you want to sound decent anyways… Michael
