Helena asked:

I understand how pick ups actually work, but what I don’t get, is how the lead connects to them or even so what the lead conects to. Please help as I am going to be making my own electric guitar soon and need your help in understanding it.

  1. lithiumdeuteride says:

The pickups contain permanent magnets, which magnetize a small portion of the steel/nickel string. As the string vibrates back and forth, the oscillating magnetic field induces a voltage across coils of insulated copper wire wrapped around the magnets. The oscillating voltage is at the same frequencies in which the string is vibrating. The voltage is output to an amplification device, and converted into sound via a speaker. lithiumdeuteride

Depending on what kind of pickup, and where you place it, this site will show you how. Wupadoo
