Dan asked:

So I’ve been playing guitar since the beginning of this school year.

So far I know my chords well, I can make barre chords, play a decent solo, and play with power chords.

Anything specific to practice?

buy a metronome — learn your scales and modes all over the fretboard.
practice short 30 min interval every day. take breaks to stretch and rest your hands.otherwise you will develop carpal tunnel syndrome like me. have fun!!!

if you are not sure what modes are go buy a scale mode book and try to find a qualified instructor. start slow because what you want is technique and accuracy– speed will come later naturally!!!!!

just keep practising what your teacher gives you… learn individual notes on the frets too… kind of in the classical style… it gives you an extra edge instead of just knowing how to read the charts and chording..
Notes will take you further with melody and real axe man playing

have fun… should I get your autograph now?

It’s the trifles that make the masterpiece.

practice isometric fingering, and diminished arpeggios and sweeps. That should improve some of your skills.
