When I do have time to play, I don’t ever want to put my guitar down! But my fingers still hurt from yesterday. How can I build up calluses faster? And hand strength, because bar chords hurt my hands.

The only way to build either of those things is practice, every day. If you stop, calluses heal and you have to start all over to build them, and hand strength.

I know it’s hard to put it down, but if you make yourself so sore you don’t want to practice the next day, you are defeating yourself. Set a comfortable time limit to play every day and stick to it. You can increase the time as your calluses and strength grow.

yard work! go get a wooden handled rake and hold it with finger tips and also you can do finger excercises on a bumpy rock…take your fingers across the rock as if you are playing a piano hard. do it for 20 minutes at a time ….3 times a day…

What I do for my violin is I just rub my fingers again and again over the fingerboard. Don’t do this so much so it will bleed though! From past experiences that REALLY hurts lol :P.
If that doesn’t work just keep on practicing or dip your fingers in warm water once in a while as your practicing. oh ya, don’t go over too many frets! (at least I think guitars have frets…) TA- TA!
