I don’t know of any short cuts. You just have to want it and stick with it. Especially when your fingers get sore. bobby d

    Afraid not..there aint no shortcuts.
You cannot learn it in a rush, you have to want it and enjoy every minute of it. thesunking

You’ll notice your fingers will start to hurt, it’ll go away within about 6 months. The best source i would say is to get a guitar teacher, not one in it for the money but one who actually knows what there talking about. This site offers free guitar lessons…

You’ll also have to make a choice if you want to read music notes or guitar tab. Guitar tab is way easier, but it may be hard for you to perform with like a professional group of musicians in the future.

All and all, STICK WITH IT. Playing the guitar is the most creative and fun thing you can do! Paul S

I learned everything I know from my Uncle and from the Internet. For guitar playing the internet is your best friend.
You can look up Guitar lessons on youtube. In the search bar type in guitar lessons for beginners or type in easy guitar lessons. Just start from there and I promise with practice it will get easier.. It’s like the biggest lifesaver! It shows the chords and you click play and it will tell you how its supposed to sound. It’s brilliant.
Or you could buy some books online or at a guitar shop.

Go here for tabs and chords –>

And just go to youtube and search guitar lessons.

    Hope I helped. bianca_jeannotte

Best thing is to go to a guitar teacher. If you cant afford that then learn one thing at a time. You should learn how to read tab ie understanding the lines represent the guitar and numbers represent the frets. Then I recommend beginning to learn a simple riff like mission impossible. Followed by maybe some basic chords. Buy a guitar book.

You could start off with learning rhythm guitar first. I recommend a book which has pictures and explains how to play each chord, followed by a song containing the chords you have just learnt.

Take things slowly and you will learn. Remeber practice makes perfect. Good luck its great fun playing guitar! :) x shelly

I’d say one thing that helps is instead of using tabs listen to songs and see if you can figure them out. It is good ear training and you can build off it. Once you have gotten good at this you can learn the notes, keys and scales that the artists use. kurtis g

Get a guiter teacher and take it as slow as you need. DONT RUSH and always practice. You can look up tabs for you favorite songs or little rock things like bends to have fun but you need to learn before the fancy stuff. Take lessons from a teacher for basics and a little more and then switch to a guy that teaches the things you want. I Forgot My Name

  9. address man says:

Study with a pro and someone who teaches music, not just guitar playing (meaning theory and how to read music). Guitar is a great instrument to learn but many people just learn enough to pose with it, call themselves guitarists and that’s that. Many know two chords and can’t carry a tune in a bucket and think they’re great players.

Be a musician first, guitarist second.

Good luck. I promise that with time it won’t seem so confusing to you. address man

  10. Mysterious! says:

First of all, are you devoted? If someone forced you to learn it, it will be extremely difficult.

Second, there are no shortcuts, it’s all hard work. Don’t try to make it easier. It won’t.

Try looking over some instructional books. It’s not confusing if you understand it. Mysterious!

  11. Xir0n says:

I’d say start off with some simple songs and just learn them. I like metal so I started off learning ‘One’ by Metallica. You can find tabs online at 911tabs.com.

Carry your guitar around with you, to. Fiddling around with it while I’m watching TV made me the guitarist I am today! Also, if you get used to always playing the guitar when you’re doing something, you’re going to want to do it every time you do that thing.

You could also get a teacher, but that’s not really a tip. Some people don’t work well with teachers. Xir0n
