It all depends on the type of song it is. If it’s a slow song, then the tabs should be easy, but if you’re trying to play Stairway To Heaven, I would wait a little while.
Ok, now on to how to read tabs. It’s fairly simple. Whichever number it says on the line, that’s the fret you put your finger on. And whichever the line is, that’s what sting you play. Most of the time, the tabs will have a little letter beside the line saying which string it is.
—0-2-5-3-0———————————–
-1———–1———————————
—————2——-0———-0-4-4-4-5—-
—————–4-4-4—4-4-4-4—————
———————————————–
———————————————–
For example, see how it says 1 on the secound line, that means you play the secound line with your finger on the 1st fret. If it says a ‘0′, that means that it’s an open string and you don’t put any fingers on the string.

If this doesn’t help you, I’m sorry. hopelessluv84

There are books, DVDs, websites, private instructors, etc. available. What are you expecting from a short answer on Yahoo? Tammi D

take a beginning guitar class. That’s all I needed to learn enough chords to have fun playing. kwb1965

There are 2 ways to learn guitar, but I’ll explain the second one, ’cause I learned guitar from the second method.

1. Use beginner guitar class
2. Learn by yourself

In order to do the second one, there’s my method :
1. Buy a guitar (of course!!) and a book which teaches you how to put your finger in chords
2. Learn how to tuning your guitar. Most advanced guitarist don’t know this, although it’s a basic of guitar learning
3. Learn how to put your fingers in right position and try to strum it
4. Learn another chord and try to combine it with your previouse-learn-chords
5. If you master this, make your right hand become flexible to strum it
6. You’ve done this. It’s only took a month for learning it. 3-4 hours a day to learn it. Try it by yourself, if you failed, don’t worry. r3d_yakuza
