How long on average does it take to pass a guitar grade?

So I started playing guitar a few years back, stopped for a bit, started playing again and now I may want to get some grades in it, but how long would they take to get? I don’t want to spend a year on grade 1 for example. So on average, how long does it take to pass a guitar grade?

How smart is it to send a guitar by parcel post?
