I am customizing a guitar with a lot of different tones, but the most important one is the jazz neck pickup - I want that mellow, chimey, bell-like jazz guitar sound, primarily for solo jazz. I am currently using a dearmond jazz pickup in the neck, and it sounds pretty darn good. I am wondering if Gibson Classic 57’s or another jazz pickup would work even better. Eager to hear thoughts and/or suggestions.

I like them both, and I can already play the guitar pretty well, but I love jazz music, and all my favorite players are horn and sax players (besides drums and bass of course). I just don’t know if the electric guitar fits into modern jazz very well, free jazz and stuff like that.

I have an acoustic guitar right now and am planning on buying an electric guitar this summer. I am planning on playing on jazz band at my college next semester and I’m wondering what guitar would I use and which could I use? Could I use both?

Like what scales do you need for jazz improv on guitar.
To sound like, for example, Wes Montgomery on the song Jingles.
