Can the hanging of an electric guitar on a wall gradually damage the guitar’s neck?

I’m curious because I’ve been told that humidity from the wall causes the neck to bend more easily. If humidity is the issue, note that I live in South Florida.

Hanging the guitar would free up some space in my already cramped room. Do you have any other space-saving recommendations?

    If it’s hanging vertically, no.

Get a corner guitar stand, takes up no room space. Person who actually researches.

Some one is yanking your chain! Hanging a guitar on the wall is actually the best way to store it. The weight of the body helps keep the neck nice and straight. Why do you think that virtually every music store in the world displays guitars that way? You can get guitar hangers at many music stores and through catalogs like musicians friend. gtarczar

Since the hook will keep the guitar from contacting the wall, your guitar won’t be any more affected by humidity than it would if you kept it on a stand. Personally, I’m a big fan of guitar hooks and have an entire wall of my living room devoted to guitar storage, since keeping them in cases took up way too much space. I’m also more inclined to play when my guitars are easy to access. Since hanging them keeps the necks straight, I no longer have to make neck adjustments the way I did when I stored the guitars in cases (I live in a humid climate, too).

There’s an online hardware store that sells hooks (for less than $2) that are essentially the same as the ones music stores sell for $15. Here’s a link to the hooks I use: baxterville
